Some pieces speak to you the moment you see them. This Demi-Lune table was one of those pieces.

The Beginning

When I first encountered this table, it had seen better days. The leather top was cracked and peeling, revealing layers of damage beneath. The ornate gilt detailing that once framed the surface was faded. The wood showed years of wear, scratches, and neglect. But beneath all that, I could see the bones of something special—the elegant half-moon shape, and the delicate turned legs that hinted at its former glory.

The Transformation

The restoration was a labour of love. I carefully removed the damaged leather, revealing the extent of the work needed. Each crack told a story, each missing piece a puzzle to solve. I chose a sophisticated black finish that would let the golden details truly shine. The contrast between the matte black surface and the delicate gilt work creates a dramatic, gallery-worthy aesthetic. It's bold yet timeless, modern yet respectful of the piece's heritage. The gold gilt floral pattern is a foil transfer, the addition of which completely transformed this piece.

A Weekend Wonder

I finished this piece on a Saturday evening, stepping back to admire how the light caught the gold against the black. By Monday, it had found its new home. There's something magical about that—a piece that resonates so strongly it finds its owner almost immediately.

Now it lives on, no longer forgotten or damaged, but cherished. A statement piece in someone's hallway, holding keys and fresh flowers, admired daily.
